Dress Code

There is no official dress code in the Grandstand enclosure at The Betfred Derby Festival. Racegoers are encouraged to come “dressed to feel your best”.
From bright and bold to subtle and sophisticated. This is racing’s most spectacular carnival, after all.

- Fancy dress: please avoid inappropriate or offensive outfits, as anything deemed vulgar or derogatory may be refused entry.

-Sports clothes: team colours are not permitted, please refrain from wearing team kits when attending The Derby Festival.

Queen Elizabeth II Stand

Event Schedule

The Queen Elizabeth II Stand does have a dress code in place on Derby Day. In keeping with the event this area is for those who wish to wear Morning Dress on Derby Day, in the same way there are areas all over the racecourse and on The Hill in the middle of track, where people have been encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, however informal, since the race was first run in 1780.

- Either black or grey morning dress with a top hat, service dress or full national costume is obligatory on Derby Day.

- You must wear formal day dress or a tailored trouser suit, with a hat or fascinator.

- This dress code applies to both Queen Elizabeth II Stand ticket holders and Queen Elizabeth II Stand Hospitality guests.

Dress Code

Dress Code

In contrast to other racecourses, Goodwood embraces the unique British style: carefree, laid back and effortlessly elegant.

Individual enclosures have their own distint codes

The Richmond Enclosure

Gentlemen and boys 16 and over are required to wear jacket, collared shirt and tie to all 19 Goodwood racedays. Women should wear smart attire appropriate for the weather. Children should also dress in smart attire. Boys aged 7-15 years are asked to wear a long sleeved collared shirt (no polo shirts). The dress code is not applicable to children under 7 years.

The Gordon Enclosure

Has no formal dress code, outside of the Qatar Goodwood Festival, although smart attire is generally the norm amongst racegoers

The Lennox Enclosure

There is no formal dress code at the most relaxed of the enclosures.
