Dress Code

Queen Anne Enclosure & Winning Post Enclosure

Whilst racegoers are encouraged to dress for a smart occasion, no formal Dress Code applies in the Queen Anne and Winning Post Enclosure during either the Flat or Jumps season, with the exception of Royal Ascot.

However, during the Flat season at Ascot, guests generally choose to dress for a smart occasion. Millinery is not compulsory, but hats and fascinators are encouraged.

Fancy dress, novelty attire and sportswear are not permitted.

King Edward VII Enclosure

Guests are required to dress for a smart summer occasion. Gentlemen must wear a jacket, collared shirt and tie. Millinery is not compulsory, but hats and headpieces are encouraged. Examples of acceptable attire include but are not limited to:

- A dress, suit or jumpsuit with a hat or headpiece
- Tailored trousers with a jacket, collared shirt and tie.

Trainers are not allowed. Fancy dress, novelty attire and sportswear are also not permitted.

Queen Elizabeth II Stand

Event Schedule

The Queen Elizabeth II Stand does have a dress code in place on Derby Day. In keeping with the event this area is for those who wish to wear Morning Dress on Derby Day, in the same way there are areas all over the racecourse and on The Hill in the middle of track, where people have been encouraged to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, however informal, since the race was first run in 1780.

- Either black or grey morning dress with a top hat, service dress or full national costume is obligatory on Derby Day.

- You must wear formal day dress or a tailored trouser suit, with a hat or fascinator.

- This dress code applies to both Queen Elizabeth II Stand ticket holders and Queen Elizabeth II Stand Hospitality guests.

Ladies Day

Friday 31st May 2024

Day one is Ladies Day. A show of the finest finery. Expect heart thumping action and breathtaking style, as horses, jockeys and racegoers go all out for the thrill.
